Information For Authors

As stated in Aim and Scope, JAGI is different from conventional journals in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Sciences, in that it only publishes research results that make a recognizable attempt to contribute directly to the creation or analysis of general-purpose intelligent systems, rather than to the solution of a special type of problem, or the modeling of an isolated cognitive function.

The journal accepts research articles, surveys, reviews, technical notes, and position statements. The submission must be original and unpublished, and not under review in another journal.  Published conference or workshop papers can be submitted to the journal after substantial extension and enhancement. All submissions must be in English.

Please be sure to read our Licensing Terms before submitting an article.

All submissions will go through peer-review, as specified in Reviewing and Publication Guide. The authors can choose between an experimental public review and a traditional private review, as well as between being anonymous and being identified in the manuscript. Either way, the authors need to fill an on-line form with an AGI Network account (which includes information on identification, affiliation, contact address, etc), suggested Action Editor and/or referee, to be sent to an Executive Editor.

A submission will be uploaded as a PDF file. Since all the accepted articles will eventually be put into the standard format of the journal, it is strongly recommended for the submission to be prepared using the article templates of the journal found here. Submissions can be augmented with links to online data, source code, demonstrations, and other supporting materials. There is no length restriction on submissions, though typical submissions have 20-30 pages, in the JAGI format. Short submissions usually will be processed faster, and reviewers may suggest the submission be shortened or extended during the review process. During the review process, the author can withdraw or update a submission.

For an accepted paper, the author is responsible to deliver the camera-ready final version, which will be kept permanently at the website in the "published" region, and can be searched. Once a year, the published papers are printed in hardcopy as one volume, with multiple issues.

There is no charge for an author to publish in this journal.
