Information For Referees

Referees are individuals with known relevant experience and knowledge whom an Action Editor has specifically requested to review and comment upon an article.

If an Action Editor has requested that you serve as a referee and you are not a Member of the AGI-Network, you will need to start by registering for the network at http://www.agi-network.org.  Please be sure to answer the last question at the bottom asking you to identify yourself as an AGI Researcher with a yes and tell us a bit about yourself.  The AGI-Network administrators have also received an e-mail notification of the Action Editor's request and will grant you membership when they next log in.

Before starting to referee an article, we would appreciate it if you would read (or re-read) the Reviewing and Publication Guide (also available from the left menu).

The target review period is three months. To leave enough time for discussion and revision, your review is better to be submitted within a month. After the author uploaded a new version, another review will be needed, which uauslly takes less time.

If an article is undergoing Public Review, you may view/download the article immediately and once you become a member, you will be treated no differently than any other AGI-Network Member. As explained in Information for Members, you can decide the visibility of your comments, as well as whether to be anonymous.

If the article is undergoing Private Review, you will need to be granted your network membership before you will be able to view/download the article which will then be visible from the My Referee Queue available from the Submissions menu item (rather than from the normal public Submissions screen). You can choose whether to be anonymous to the authors.
